What are the advantages and disadvantages compared between PVC flex banners and rigid banners?

PVC flex banners and rigid banners each have their own merits in advertising. PVC flex banners are typically made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), while rigid banners are usually made of hard materials such as plastic sheets or aluminum alloys. The materials used in these two types of banners differ, and their advantages and disadvantages vary as well.
In terms of portability and installation, PVC flex banners are more convenient and quick to carry and install due to their lightweight and flex nature. They can be easily rolled up, folded, and have more flexibility when hung, adapting to various locations and shapes. In contrast, rigid banners are usually heavier, less portable, and the installation process is more complex.
However, the lightweight and foldable nature of PVC flex banners also lead to a problem – susceptibility to wear and tear. After multiple uses, PVC flex banners may fade, tear, or develop wrinkles, affecting their appearance. Moreover, prolonged outdoor use may cause banners to crease or deform due to weather conditions such as wind and rain, reducing their lifespan. In comparison, the material of rigid banners is more durable, able to maintain flatness for a long time, and less prone to deformation or damage, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Apart from these, are there any other differences between them?
When displaying advertisements, we ideally want vibrant colors to attract the attention of passersby. The smooth surface of PVC material can display vivid colors, making it suitable for displaying graphic and textual information. Due to material limitations, rigid banners are not as flex in printing as PVC flex banners, and the production cost is usually higher. However, they can print complex fine patterns or details without losing details due to their rigid surface.
Advertisements often need to be displayed on a large scale and require multiple prints. In terms of cost and production technology, PVC flex banners are usually more cost-effective than rigid banners. PVC material is relatively inexpensive, and the production process of flex banners is relatively simple, thus lowering the cost. On the other hand, the production process of rigid banners may involve more complex processing techniques and materials, resulting in higher costs.
Due to their different characteristics, they are suitable for different locations. PVC flex banners are more suitable for indoor and short-term outdoor activities because of their ability to be rolled up and folded, making them ideal for displaying temporary advertising content such as exhibitions and indoor activities. Rigid banners are more suitable for long-term display, requiring higher visual effects and stability, such as outdoor billboards and road signs.
